Off Peak (also known as Economy Tariff) Electricity can save you money!
Currently Energex are offering financial incentives {Cash Back} for people to connect certain items to Off Peak Electricity.
Why?
Because if Energex can control their connected load, it makes their operation more efficient. They compensate you by offering cheaper electricity if they are able to control it.
What is eligible for this cheaper electricity?
Many items, but particularly Hot Water Services and Swimming Pool pumps.
Swimming Pool pumps and Hot Water services can be connected to the Economy Tariff. This normally operates for at least 18 hours per day – just not normally from 4pm to 8pm.
If you have a larger size Hot Water Service (maybe 250 litres or more), this may be suitable for connection to the Super Economy Tariff. This operates for at least 8 hours per day – normally between 10pm and 7am.
How much can I save?
The discounts are 32% for Economy Tariff and 52% for Super Economy Tafiff.
What are the Financial Incentives?
Currently Energex are offering a reward of $200 if you connect your Hot Water service to an Economy Tariff!
There is a reward of $200 if you connect your swimming pool pump to an Economy Tariff.
These incentives are due to end on 31 December 2015.

These are great incentives – it can mean that having the Economy Tariff installed in your home is virtually free in some circumstances.
